Languages matter! says Unesco on its website, thus introducing the International Year of Languages. Governments, organizations, associations or individuals are invited to increase their activities to promote and protect all languages, particularly endangered languages. Unesco gives a list of all projects currently undertaken, and we are happy to say that Freelang is among the selection!

FEBRUARY/MARCH 2008

On June 17th, every year, the family goes through a private ritual: we photograph ourselves to stop for a fleeting moment, the arrow of time passing by. Diego and Susy Goldberg have been doing it since 1976, for more than thirty years. At the time there was only the two of them, then they had children, three boys, whose pictures are posted each year also. They are plain, small black and white head pictures, yet there is something poetical and deeply moving about this website. Check it back every June 17th...

Have you ever heard of bookcrossing? It's simple: when you've done reading a book, you leave it somewhere and you log on to the website to indicate where it is, so that somebody can come and pick it up. The person reads it, and then leaves it somewhere else, in a different city, maybe, or even a different country. You never know where your book might travel next, but you can track its journey. And of course you can also go and pick up a book yourself. Isn't it brilliant?

You have downloaded or received a file and you want to make sure it is virus-free? You may have an anti-virus already, of course, but many sources of advice would be better, and unfortunately it is not recommended to install several anti-virus software on a single computer. This is why Virus Total is useful: you can upload a file and have it analysed online, for free, by no less than 32 anti-viruses, including AVG, F-Secure, Kaspersky, McAfee, Panda and Symantec.
